After five years of planning and construction, this state of the art Adult Mental Health facility is now fully operational. Throughout the design and development of the project, the practice has provided landscape, ecology and arboriculture services. The £56 million new build includes an extensive suite of specialist units and the practice was responsible for the hard and soft landscape design of twelve external gardens, courtyards and plazas, along with the external landscape setting of the site. The project also includes a public plaza and a new central concourse access to the main hospital complex. The practice is pleased to have supported Laing O'Rourke and Powell Dobson Architects in the design and delivery of this major new facility for University Hospital Llandough.
Working as part of the design team on behalf of Bloor Homes (South West), Soltys Brewster are pleased to have assisted in securing a resolution to grant Outline Planning consent for Winsford Park, Bideford. This strategic greenfield allocation within the emerging North Devon and Torridge Local Plan was identified for up to 750 residential units, a new primary school and local centre. A range of habitat and protected species surveys, including Dormice, bats and breeding birds, were undertaken to inform the Ecological Impact Assessment and evolution of the site masterplan, allowing the retention of listed buildings, woodland and other key green infrastructure components to benefit the development.
Following appeal, planning approval has been granted for the Brenig Wind Farm height extension, Denbighshire. The consented scheme will see the overall tip height extend for the 16 proposed turbines to 110m. The application for an increase in tip height was originally refused by Denbighshire County Council on the grounds of potential effects on landscape and visual amenity to Snowdonia National Park and the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB. Soltys Brewster provided expert landscape advice throughout the appeal process to assist in achieving a successful outcome.
