Planning permission for this strategic salt caves energy project on Islandmagee, Northern Ireland, has successfully been submitted by GES, bringing to a close four years of landscape planning, environmental assessment and design. Soltys Brewster provided comprehensive landscape services, including specialist photomontage, night time assessment and residential visual assessment, as part of Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment ES Chapter, Green Infrastructure masterplanning and landscape design.The practice also assisted with a number of Stakeholder Engagement events, working closely with Todd Architects and Maceo Design and Management on this unique, regionally significant project, showcasing a developing technology.
Following Outline Planning Approval in early 2015 for 350+ residential units on this strategic green field development site in Monmouth, the practice has successfully overcome significant planning conditions covering Landscape, Ecology and Trees, assisting Barratt Homes and Taylor Wimpey in the discharge of Reserved Matters planning conditions. A Green Infrastructure Management Plan, Detailed Landscape Design and Construction Environmental Management Plan (Biodiversity) were produced, as well as a Dormouse Method Statement, to support a successful European Protected Species licence application to NRW. The first development phase involving construction of the site access road is due to commence in early 2016.
In 2016, our experienced ecology team reaches it's 10th anniversary of delivering ecology solutions for a wide range of developments in England, Wales and Ireland. Services from feasibility, through habitat and protected species surveys and EIA, have consistently delivered mitigation solutions on site. All of our Ecologists are members of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) and able to provide habitat, floral and protected species survey and mitigation advise across a broad taxonomic range. This capability has been utilised in delivering innovative mitigation solutions to unlock development potential, whilst protecting and enhancing biodiversity.
